Blogs, Wikis, Instant Messaging, Facebook, You Tube – What’s it all about?
Katrina Brocka will sort it out for those who attend the program “Social Networking on the Internet” on Monday, Feb. 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
She will teach participants how to use social networking sites, social bookmarking sites and more.
Parents, learn how to help kids use the Internet more safely. Bring a lap top if you have it. This is the sixth in a series of adult programs for 2010-11 and it is offered free of charge.
Please register for this class at the library front desk or call 993-3512. Ask for a pamphlet outlining the remaining three programs. The March program is a two session workshop on photography.
The Adult Winter Reading Program “Carry Out a Good Book” has been extended for one week. Entries to win prizes must be in by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 4. The drawing for a gift basket and gift certificates from Adel restaurants will be held that day at 4:30 p.m. Gift certificates have been provided by Breadeaux Pizza, Godfather’s Pizza, Italian Villages, Patrick’s and Subway. The gift basket may be seen in the display case at the library.
It’s not too late to sign up and enter the program and contest. Ask for more information at the front desk.
Perhaps it’s a movie you’ve never seen before. Perhaps it’s your favorite and you’d like to see it again. Either way, everyone is welcome to the library on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. to enjoy the movie classic “Casablanca” starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Popcorn will be served!

The Family Reading Program continues through February with two special events planned. Play Candy Land like never before on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Travel the board as a family and collect candy as you go.
A Wild, Wild West Round-Up will be held on Friday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a family night with games, Karaoke, and Wii Rockband. Prizes will be awarded that night for top reading families.
Preschoolers are invited to join Cindy Blobaum and Laura Zaugg of Dallas County Conservation for a special program “Toes and Tracks” on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. Cindy and Laura will bring stories, activities and artifacts for a special nature program.

The Adel Public Library now offers downloadable e-books via the WILBOR website.
Library card holders may check out up to three titles at a time to be read on your computer or transferred to a portable e-reader device such as a Nook Sony Reader, or Kobo.

The library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 21 for Presidents’ Day but will be open for the adult program at 6:30 p.m.
