Happy Holidays!

You will find the Adel Public Library in the Christmas spirit with many activities filling the month of December.

The ADM Schools will have an early out on Wednesday, Dec. 8. Students are invited to the library on that day at 1:30 p.m. to make a holiday craft.

Also on Dec. 8, the Friends of the Library will begin gift wrapping for anyone who is willing to give a free will donation.

Your gifts will be beautifully wrapped by Friends’ volunteers and staff members. Paper, ribbons, and gift tags will be provided, but it would be helpful if you can provide boxes for the gifts.

Proceeds will be used for library projects. Gift wrapping runs through Dec. 22.

Laura will help teens will make holiday gifts on Monday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m.

A new monthly event – Matinee Movie Classic – will be held for the first time on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. in the library community room. The feature film will be “Holiday Inn.” Popcorn and hot cider will be served. A movie classic will be shown on the second Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. through the winter months.

A family activity will take place on Monday, Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Billed as a Don’t Be a Grinch Family Party, families will enjoy a movie and Christmas treats. It will provide a fun way for families to relax amid the holiday bustle.

Toddlers and Preschoolers are invited to the library on two consecutive Wednesdays, Dec. 15 and 22 for a music sing-a-long with Paula and Laura. The kids will be singing Wiggles songs as well as holiday songs.

Paula and Laura promise lots of jingle bells with the new shaker bells that have been recently purchased by the Friends of the Adel Public Library.

The library staff will conduct a canned food drive for our local food pantry during the month of December. A collection box will be located near the front desk.

There is an opening on the Adel Public Library Board of Directors. If you are interested in the position, please contact City Hall or the Public Library. Deadline for applications is Dec. 10. Appointment will be made on Dec. 14.

The library will be closed Dec. 24-27 for Christmas and Dec. 31, Jan. 1-2 for New Year’s.

Mondays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
