Just in case you receive this news before Dec. 1, don’t forget the “Let’s Swap” adult programming event at the Adel Public Library on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. We’re going to swap movies, CD’s and books – and a cookie swap, too! Refreshments & door prizes.
And now, for the rest of December -
On the night of the Adel Christmas Open House on Friday, Dec. 4, the library will host a Scholastic Book Fair beginning at 5 p.m. The library will receive free books for a percentage of sales. Books make great Christmas gifts and Scholastic is well known for its fine selection of books for children. If you can’t make the open house, the Book Fair will run through Friday, Dec. 11.
The Scrapbooking Club will meet on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. Bring a snack to share.
We’re had several inquiries about Books Are Fun. We have been assured that sometime in early December we will receive a selection of books and gifts for you to order in time for Christmas. Just give us a call at 993-3512 to see if the items have arrived. The library receives a free book for every 10 items sold.
The Evening Book Club will meet on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. and the Mommy Book Club will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. Both groups will discuss Fanny Flagg’s “A Red Bird Christmas.” Babysitting services will be provided for the Mommy Book Club.
A Kid’s Holiday Party for elementary children will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. Teens will make edible ornaments on Monday, Dec. 14 at 4 p.m.
The Friends of the Adel Public Library will wrap your gifts during a two week period beginning Wednesday Dec. 9 during day and evening hours. For a free will donation, you may bring in any or all of your Christmas present that need to be wrapped. Proceeds will go to library projects.
The library will be closed on Dec. 25 and Dec. 26 for the Christmas holiday. The library will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
